A Case of Shoulder Amputation for Spreading Traumatic Gangrene

چکیده

Ramlal, a Choubey, aged 30 years well formed, was admitte into the Dumraon Raj Hospital on the 2nd May, 1883, for com" pound fracture of the left radius, received by a fall from a man" goe tree, about 16 feet high. The lower end of the upper fragment protruded through the skin, making a puncture of about ^ inch long, about an inch above the wrist. Slight venous bleeding continued. The protruded bone was replaced by extension and manipulation, and the wound dressed with Tinct. Benzoin Co. and cotton. After reduction the radial pulsation at the wrist felt all right. The limb was bandaged .vitli two well padded splints. 3rd.?In spite of a dose of opium, had much pain at night, and slight oozing continued. Dressing changed, and only one splint on the back of the forearm kept, leaving rhe wound open for daily dressing. Had fever in the evening. 4th.?Fever continued ; wound dressed with carbolic oil ; the discharge foetid. 5th?The wound sloughy ; small blebs appeared round the wound.
